Purpose #
I’ve started this blog with the express purpose of documenting my progress of learning to reverse engineer malware. My primary focus will be on analysing increasingly difficult malware strands, observed in the wild from various sources. This will be coupled with answers to training courses I have completed as well as any CTFs I stumble upon.
Perhaps most importantly, I aim to document the key lessons that I have learned throughout my journey, the hardships and failures that I encountered prior to documenting my successful analysis of each piece of malware. Afterall, reverse engineering is a journey of “how to find your zen” when all you want to do is scream and set Windows on fire (aka how to cope with constant failure).

My Background #
I’ve spent the better part of the past 5 years in Cyber Security, starting out as a Penteration Tester. I spent 4 years in that sub-discipline, moving most recently into Digital Forensics and Incident Response to better understand the otherside of the coin. I am passionate about learning and veery much love unpicking puzzles.
Prior to my Cyber Security career I was a non-technical High School Teacher (and I mean non-technical… I didn’t even know what a port was except for you know, the ones that allow boats to dock). My technical knowledge is largely self-taught, with a little splash of formal training through the completion of certifications. I thank my closest friends for imparting their knowledge of the discipline as well as showing kindness in supporting me in my journey to securing the courage to actively pursue this career path.
